Message it's a microphone, and a voice pattern and a radio signal are both just signal waves, so I would imagine a cell phone would be able to transmit them both, in fact, I am sure of it. However, a phone only transmits a certain frequency, can't remember the hertz off the top of my head (comeon advanced networks 213), anything over or under is cut out. The reason you can use your phone in conjuction with your DSL line is because they operate on diffenent frequencies over the same medium (copper). So, if the car alarm's frequency happened to fall within the phone's operating frequency, it could actually work.
